Q: Where are the splash pads in Western Mass?

There are 50 free public splash pads across 15 Pioneer Valley towns: Look Park in Northampton, Nonotuck Park in Easthampton, Buttery Brook Park and Beechgrounds Park in South Hadley, and Pulaski Park, Community Field, and Springdale Park in Holyoke. Most run daily 11am to 7pm from June through August.

Q: Are the Western Mass splash pads free?

Every Pioneer Valley town splash pad we cover is free and open to the public. The seven Holyoke, South Hadley, and Easthampton pads have no admission. Look Park in Florence (Northampton) charges a park entrance fee that includes the splash pad along with the playground, mini-train, and zoo.

Q: What hours are the splash pads open?

Most Western Mass splash pads run daily during their season. Holyoke's three spray pads (Pulaski Park, Community Field, Springdale Park) run 11am to 7pm June through August. Buttery Brook Park in South Hadley runs 10am to 8pm. Nonotuck Park in Easthampton runs 10am to 7pm. Hours can shift in extreme weather; call the parks department if unsure.

Yes. Springfield Parks announced that the Forest Park splash pad is closed for the 2025-2026 summer season. The rest of Forest Park (zoo, playgrounds, picnic areas) is open. Every other splash pad listed on this page is operating in 2026.

Splash pads are free, drop-in, ankle-deep water-play installations. No admission, no swim test, no lifeguards required. They suit toddlers through about age 10. Pools require swim ability or supervision, often charge admission, and run on stricter schedules.
